As our name suggests, Les Soeurs Anglaises is the collaborative enterprise of English “sisters” Katie , Susie and Carol, all long-term residents of France. With a lifetime of work and experiences in London and the UK – in graphic design, interior design, education and film production - as well as multiple hobbies, interests and skills, our move to France signalled a change of direction and ethos. Our mission became one of finding the very best artists, crafters, musicians and chefs to lead residential, creative workshops and events. We were the first venue in this part of France to offer events such as these.
Several years of planning, and numerous more collaborating with brilliant bi-lingual architect, Jeremy Harris, meant that the property Briançon, which started life as a beautiful, but long neglected, hamlet in the fabulous countryside of Perigord Vert, could finally open its (giant) renovated doors to workshop participants in 2007.
Over time, our events’ formula has evolved into what is today, we hope, the perfect mix. The Maison de Maître and L’Espace - the huge, light-filled studio space, where we host our work-shops and concerts - have accommodated a succession of well-known and much admired artists and crafters, such as Janet Bolton, Roger McGough, Robert Race, Julie Arkell, Patricia Roberts, Silvan Zingg, Marion Foales, Rosalind Wyatt, Åsa Sōderman and Lori Seibert and many others. People tell us that the unique ambiance of the property is complemented by the delicious food and wine, as well as the warm welcome, care and support we offer.

Our workshops and events are open to individuals over the age of 21 as well as small groups of friends and family. Our guests hail from all over the world making each event an enriching cultural experience and offering everyone the opportunity to share creativity from varied sources of inspiration. They may be artists, professionals, chefs, photographers, authors or house-wives and mothers who are interested in visiting our venue in order to connect with people and artisans who share a common interest in learning, and culture. Men, of course, are very welcome to participate, however there are many steps on our property and to the accommodation so the venue may not be suitable for individuals with mobility issues.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR AN event

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?
Your payments will be split in two, with an initial deposit to secure your place at the event, and the remaining fee due 6 weeks prior to the start of the event. After you have completed your registration you will be sent an Invoice to complete your deposit payment. Payment can be made by Paypal, sterling or International bank transfer.
Price includes 5 days of workshop and 6 nights residential accommodation; continental breakfasts, salad lunches, 3-course evening meals with wine, and refreshments throughout the day; collection from and drop-off at Angouleme train station and Bergerac airport is included. NOT included are international travel costs, alcohol, incidental expenses, personal and travel insurance

Is personal and travel iinsurance necessary?
We ask that you organise travel and medical insurance before departure as we cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings, and/or accidents.
How many guests will there be?
In line with social distancing norms, our policy will be to keep group sizes small for the foreseeable future. This has the happy result of making it easier for guests to get to know each other. Our group size therefore will, typically, be between 6 - 8 guests.
Will I have any free time?
Definitely…. whilst the workshop leader will be in the studio between 10am and 5pm each of the workshop days, the atmosphere is deliberately relaxed (you are not at school after all) and time can always be found for swimming, walking in the garden, catching up with correspondence or reading beside the pool with an aperitif before supper. We can also provide keen walkers with local places to head for..
CAN I BRING MY SPOUSE, PARTNER OR FRIEND IF THEY ARE NOT TAKING THE WORKSHOP?

Does the fee include workshop materials?
For the most part yes, though occasionally a workshop leader will require participants to bring with them materials of their own; or they may ask for a contribution for specialist items provided by the leader her/himself.
Can I hire the venue for an event I will organise myself?
Yes, we have worked on this basis before but suggest you contact us directly to discuss whether dates and logistics are feasible.
What if I have a nutritional concern?
Our meals are made with only the freshest local ingredients and are, for the main part, vegetarian. We try our best to accommodate dietary issues and allergies, as long as we have prior knowledge, however we are not nutritionists and are sometimes unable to manage unusual eating problems or allergies. If you would like to discuss this prior to registration, please contact us.
