Toby Cello & Oscar Antoli
Friday, 28th March 2025 19:30
Our fourth unique collaborative concert, performed by internationally acclaimed musicians from diverse genres.
This month our project will feature a collaboration between reknowned cellist, Toby Kuhn, and multi-wind-instrumentalis, Oscar Antoli.
Born in France, Toby picked up the cello at age 7. After studying in Paris and Montreal, he embraced free improvisation, jazz, blues, and Balkan music. In 2012, he co-founded Mad Kats and later joined Wild Strings Trio and Zamee. He tours Europe and beyond, blending folk, jazz, and world music with boundless energy. He plays a 1995 cello and a custom 5-string baritone.
Antoli is a master of Music from Codarts Rotterdam, and has been invited to play his clarinet and guitar at most of the top festivals worldwide where he fuses Mediterranean traditions with jazz, Latin, and Eastern influences, bridging Iberian, Balkan, and Anatolian sounds and creating a rich, genre-defying musical tapestry.
This will be the first time these diverse musicians have joined forces and with several days to prepare for the final concert the process will be driven by experimentation, improvisation and storytelling, resulting in intimate multi-media and immersive musical pieces.
Tarren
Friday, 13th June 19:30
We’ve invited the formidably talented Tarren to open our Summer Season of concerts.
A Bristol-based trio leading folk into an exciting new era with their signature "New-Folk" sound. They are currently captivating audiences across the UK with their tight musicianship and innovative musical edge.
Featuring Sid Goldsmith (Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith, Awake Arise), Alex Garden (The Drystones, Harriet Riley & Alex Garden), and Danny Pedler (Pedler // Russell). Together they weave cittern, concertina, fiddle, and accordion into mesmerizing arrangements, blending traditional dance rhythms with modern minimalism. Their music is fresh, dynamic, and deeply moving.
Tarren’s debut album REVEL was released in 2022 to high acclaim and was compared with the work of Faustus and Lau’s legendary debut album Lightweights and Gentlemen. In 2023 and 2024 they toured extensively and during the week preceeding their concert with us they will be working on their upcoming album
