MOVING MEMORIES with Anne Kelly

July 2022 5 Workshop days / 6 nights

6th - 12th July 2022

5 workshops day / 6 nights

Travel, memory and collections remind us all of places we have been or would like to visit because travel and our travel memories, often associated with very positive emotions, have the power to shape our personality. We are, after all, what we remember, and creating an archive of these memories and mapping our personal journeys allows us to revisit significant life events and places, whether real or imagined.

the event

Under Anne Kelly’s guidance participants will create a personal, meaningful repository for a special place (actual or imagined) of their choice. Working with techniques explored in her new book ‘Textile Travels’, she will demonstrate the use of printing, fabric collage, textile and paper lamination, hand and machine stitching using items from personal and found collections of old and new pieces of fabric, ephemera and decorative paper; the aim will be to complete a 3D, as well as a smaller folding piece, during the course of the workshop.
