Moving along......
1. Having had to cancel all our workshops this year because of the continuing travel uncertainties, we are thrilled to announce dates have been agreed, and bookings opened, for textile artist Anne Kelly’s event with us next year. (A solo exhibition of her recent work at the Ruthin Craft Centre opened on the 28th May and runs until 17 July)
Wednesday, 6th - Tuesday 12th July
Moving Memories - Mixed Media
Dates for Ekta Kaul, the Mixed Media Collage week, Laughter Lab III and more in 2022 TBA
2. Discover the exceptional qualities of natural hemp bed and table linen in a fabulous array of colours. Couleur Chanvre have developed a unique dyeing and finishing process that eliminates all toxic, irritant, allergenic and endocrine disrupting finishes and chemicals that are used in virtually all textile industries.
3. Sisse Fog Odgaard invites you to be a part of her extraordinary 10,000 Shadows project by knitting a “sock”. Each one knitted “will represent a shadow we cast as human beings . By embracing our 'shadows' we become whole and we can sit more comfortably with who we are”. The result will be a beautiful, colourful installation that it is hoped will travel the world!
4. David Hockney’s life can be seen as one long quest for brighter sunshine, stronger colours, sharper light. The Arrival of Spring is his latest exhibition at the Royal Academy, London, sadly already sold out but you can find most of his iPad paintings in the book, “David Hockney: The Arrival of Spring, Normandy”.
5. Still considering joining our Collage Card Connection ? Closing date for returns is the end of 8 weeks away so don’t leave it too long! (We will be offering a free place on one of our workshops next year to one lucky collaborator).
6. Not quite collage, but almost…. Ememem is known as “the pavement surgeon who repairs gouged pavements and splintered facades with colourful, intricate mosaics in the municipal cracks.
7. It’s mostly make do and mend these days, but if your trainers simply won’t last another walk into town, visit Allbirds online shop. Made from natural materials like Wool, Tree, and Sugar (and introducing a new “Plant Leather”) because of their natural carbon-sucking -properties - these shoes are stylish, machine-washable and (most important) super-comfortable…..
8.“This book Will Save Your Life” by A M Homes (recommended by my well-read nephew, Davy) is centred around the promised land of Los Angeles and tells the story of one man's efforts to bring himself back to life. An exploration of how extraordinary the ordinary can be, it is touching and funny and full of compassion and transformation.
9. Master the playful art of shadow puppetry with a little help from Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858).
10. maggie and milly and molly and may
E. E. Cummings - 1894-1962
maggie and milly and molly and may
went down to the beach(to play one day)
and maggie discovered a shell that sang
so sweetly she couldn't remember her troubles, and
milly befriended a stranded star
whose rays five languid fingers were;
and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles:and
may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.
For whatever we lose(like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea
Stay safe
